‘Sup guys?
Today I got a little rant for you. It’s all about our favorite software to view and move files on macOS: Finder.
I have a Synology DS723+ with 2x 4TB HDDs and 2x 256GB M.2 SSD as a Read-Write-Cache. I gotta say. Speeds are actually good. Yes, it’s limited by my shitty 1Gbit LAN, but overall I can’t complain.
I got lots of devices writing and reading stuff from that NAS. Windows, Linux, macOS, iOS and Android devices and everything works great, besides macOS.
So macOS’ Finder seems to be a pretty hard piece of shit. I mean don’t get me wrong, it works, but writing to my NAS using finder is absolutely shit.
I only get like 50MB write when using finder. And as you might be able to tell, that’s way too low for a 1Gig Network. This makes transferring a 10GB file take 2 hours.
So I headed to the internet and looked around. Turns out: Finder is retarded. So many people have the same issue and named using the DSM webinterface as a solution. And would you look at that: 100MB/s+ on upload. Fucking great.
So, here’s what I gotta say:
Dear Apple, FIX YOUR SHIT.
thank you.
