My midlife-crysis is in full effect.
Last time we talked about my 35mm Film Adventure, I purchased my camera, got my first roll of film and tried taking photos to see if the camera really worked.
And in this Part I can finally reveal the Images I took. I’m going to be honest, I won’t be showing you every image, since most of them didn’t turn out great, but I can show you the best ones.
So let’s get right into it.
Did the Camera actually work?
Yes. Yes it did.
I finished my first roll of film (with 24 exposures) and took it to my local print shop. Since I purchased my film in their shop, I had a coupon that saved me from paying 3,90€ for developing the film. I let them digitize the Images which cost me 10€ which is fine in my eyes.
So I handed my roll over and asked when I’ll get the images. Since I gave them the roll on a saturday, they said I’d get them by (in the worst case) monday.
To my suprise, I already got a link to wetransfer about 1,5 hours later. Amazing.
I can recall that back in the day when my parents gave their films to develop, it would take at least a week. Incredible how far technology has come for developing film.
Finally. The results.
I know. I have made you wait for this. So here’s a gallery of all the images I took (and am willing to share).
But before that:
I still need lots and lots of practice to take actually good images. Eventhough the Minolta XD has a fully automatic mode (which isn’t well talked about in the manual), it’s still a “challenge” to take clear pictures in low light.
I mainly failed a lot of Images (as you’ll be able to see) because I wasn’t holding the camera still enough. So that’s something I have to improve.
But when taking images in good lighting conditions, the camera does a great job.
Please go ahead and tell me what you think about the images. But remember: This is still my first try at taking images with an analouge film camera. The next roll of film will definetly turn out better.
As soon as I have some more practice and shot some more photos, I’ll come back to this whole ordeal.
Let’s see where this is going! 😀
